I watched Chasing Amy just to see Ben Affleck and I thought it was just a horrible movie. The sound of the lead actress' voice was just unbelievably horrible. I can't imagine that a director could direct a movie with an actress with that kind of a voice and not notice the sound. As one point there is a long "emotional" scene in which the actress's voice seems close to apporaching a range where only dogs could hear it.
Dogma is an expertly done movie. Dogma may not be all that entertaining but it is smartly done. Every scene in Dogma flows into the next scene and almost every little detail introduced in the movie is USED later in the movie.
After watching Dogma several times, I decided that maybe I misjudged "Chasing Amy", so I rented Chasing Amy and watched it again. Chasing Amy is horrible, that woman's voice is unbearable, this woman should take some voice classes.
There is no chemistry between Ben Affleck and his love interest, the two characters simply make speeches at each other.
