You Have to Have A Job to Temp
The only way to keep your sanity temping in NYC is to get a PERM job or some other stable source of income during the day and temp at night and on weekends; there are a lot of people doing this in NYC.
When you have a stable source of income, all of the usual drawbacks of temping disappear.
While there is a lot of money to be made in NYC temping, the idiots temping that you will have to deal with ALMOST make living on unemployment seem better. If you don’t have a stable source of income, temping in NYC will drive you crazy. If you do have a stable source of income, then temping in NYC will be like stealing money, better yet, temping in NYC will be like waking up in the morning and finding that someone threw a box of money through your bedroom window.
There may be some decent people who are actors who are temping, but the fact remains that most of these people CLAIMING TO BE ACTORS (because they never get any acting work) are stupid and annoying and they just create trouble for the rest of us temping.
