It was reported in a settlement of a discrimination complaint several years ago, that a well known temp agency had coded all of its accounts to indicate what kind of minorities it's clients did not want to see.
"No Marias" meant no Hispanic women.
The temp agency's practice only became public because a Black Counselor/employee of the agency had a discrimination dispute with them and made the practice public.
I actually worked for this agency for more than ten years, made a lot of money from them and they gave me recommendations to work for other agencies and with other companies. I even worked with my counselor's son who was working at another agency
In general, if an agency is not receptive to you as a minority, it probably means that it has gotten some kind of indication from its "CLIENT" that it does not want to see minorities.
However, in most cases, what the temp agency regards as its "CLIENT" is usually some low level bitter bitch that the MEN, who are actually running the investment bank, shoved down into Clerical/Administrative just to keep her dumb ass out of the way.
Investment Banks are run by White Males, nearly all of the positions that matter at investment banks are filled with White Males. And I have NOT met a lot of White Male Bankers who spend a lot of their time thinking about minority temps.
